reachAbility is featured in Issue 6 of Uplift — Churchill Academy‘s seasonal newsletter. “Churchill Academy (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) is a school that specializes in delivering a curriculum to meet the educational needs of students living with learning disabilities. The school offers students who have struggled in traditional learning environments the opportunity to receive the quality educational support they deserve.”
Lauren Fineberg, graduate of Churchill Academy and reachAbility’s 4-Youth program, had the following to say about her experience with us:
I am taking a 22-week course at reachAbility, where I get to go out and volunteer at places to practice being ready to get a job. The volunteer places include Feed Nova Scotia on Tuesdays and the SPCA on Fridays.
I was involved with reachAbility’s camp in the summer up in Orangedale, Cape Breton, where I was a junior counselor and worked with kids with disabilities.
I started looking at colleges that have a veterinarian program that I want to take and so far narrowed it down to Centre for Arts and Technology, Eastern College and Maritime College.
I miss everyone at Churchill but I’m also enjoying all the activities and learning new life skills at reachAbility.
