Plain Language Legislation (PLL)

reachAbility's Plain Language Legislation initiative, in partnership with Dalhousie Pro Bono Students Canada, simplifies relevant government legislative acts and policies. To date it includes translations of: The Hospital Act, the Department of Community Services Employment Support & Income Assistance Manual, the Worker's Compensation Appeal Process, The Human Rights Act, The Pardoning Process and The Adult Protection Act. The aim is that this information may then be understood by all parties, as currently there is limited access to legislation in plain language, especially for those issues relating to persons living with disabilities.

- FACT: Access to Legislations, Acts or Policies in Plain Language that focus on the unique needs of persons with disabilities are not available.

- THEREFORE: reachAbility is taking this information and making it less complicated so that it can be shared and used by everyone.
