reachAbility breaks the mold with new Executive Director of Community & Business Development

Danny Morton We are very excited to announce our new Executive Director of Community and Business Development, Danny Morton! Well-known in the tourism industry as the former General Manager of White Point Beach Resort and current board member of the Nova Scotia Tourism Agency, Morton will be spearheading the division of reachAbility that specializes in creative-customized programs and services for all levels of Public, Private and Non-Profit sectors to support the integration of stigmatized communities into workplaces.

Since making the shift from business to a not-for-profit organization, Morton has been met with varied responses: “People are first curious, then quickly become very excited for me as I think I am embarking on many people’s dream. To be able to focus my knowledge and efforts on engaging the positive contributions of the many diverse people reachAbility represents will be so personally rewarding. It’s an honour to be given the opportunity.”

Morton brings over thirty years experience working in the tourism industry and with a varied list of volunteer organizations to reachAbility. “I have always believed in the message of the founders, Tova Sherman and Dr. Bruce Mills, regarding the simple correctness of equal access for all being a completely reasonable and morally responsible goal. My experiences in the past have been compatible with the principles of accommodation and this feels like a natural transition.”

Morton plans to champion the next stage of growth of reachAbility, bringing the organization’s offerings directly to the business community. “Initially we will be expanding the reach of the Employer of Excellence program and, through that, Disability Awareness Training. Both are an opportunity for companies to build strong, diverse workplaces that include people with disabilities, sharing the reachAbility vision of an inclusive, healthy community to which all people belong and contribute.”

“I am committed to bringing a professional and caring dedication to this new challenge and am very excited about it all.”
