First-Time Filmmakers is a unique filmmaking workshop for youth aged 16-23. Participants will receive a comprehensive look at the filmmaking process guided by film industry professionals.

Youth will create their very own public service announcement and explore the filmmaking process; learn techniques to tell their stories, technical skills such as script writing, image composition, audio recording, and lighting. Participants will also receive hands on experience with professional equipment, lights, cameras, microphones, and sound recorders.

First-Time Filmmakers aims to help empower youth. Research continues to demonstrates that when youth are trained in filmmaking and given an opportunity to present their work to an audience, incredible things happen such as: increased self-esteem, identity exploration and reinforcement, creative expression, and empowerment.
