reachAbility Launches Mental Health Clinic
We are pleased to announce the launch of our love.live.learn Clinic. The clinic will provide free counselling to individuals who lack the means and resources to otherwise access ongoing mental health services. Furthering reachAbility’s evolution, the clinic both elevates and compliments existing programming by taking a holistic approach. The creation of the love.live.learn Clinic comes in response to the rising need and demand for services addressing mental health.
“Staff at reachAbility recognize that many of those accessing programs are facing mental health barriers, which impacts their ability to find and maintain employment,” says reachAbility Senior Coordinator and Counsellor Gary Owen Porter.
Porter, who will be spear-heading the service, is a professional member of CCPA with a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) designation.
A long-time staff member at reachAbility, Porter hopes the Clinic will provide people with the additional assistance they need to reach their goals and maintain those goals over the long-term, far beyond the scope of intervention.
“Our main goal is to help our clients build a solid foundation, so once they leave reachAbility, they are able to continue building on their personal triumphs and accomplishments.”
The love.live.learn Clinic will begin offering services to reachAbility clients during the month of July. For more information, visit reachability.org/abilityclinic.
