A special event marking International Day of People with Disability will be held at the Piers Military Centre, Windsor Park, (WP-106 Multipurpose Room.) This event is sponsored by the local Defence Advisory Group for Persons with Disabilities, in conjunction with Rear-Admiral John Newton, Commander, Maritime Forces Atlantic / Joint Task Force Atlantic. This year's theme is, "Toward and Enabled Future", and will begin at 8:55 a.m. on December 3, 2014. reachAbility's Tova Sherman is pleased to be invited as the keynote speaker this year, and will present along with Colonel Gerry Blais, the Directory Casualty Support Management, Department of National Defence (DND).
The local Defence Advisory Group for Persons with Disabilities works primarily with serving members, civilians and families within the DND community of the Atlantic region. In addition to presentations, refreshments will be served and there will be a number of kiosks showcasing local agencies which assist and interact in areas of disability issues and support.
