If You Want Your Client Employed In September – You’ll Want Them In Gateway In August!
The Gateway program cooperates with employers throughout the HRM to provide people facing barriers to employment the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience in their field of interest. This is the chance every client is speaking of, offer them that chance!
Participants receive 4 weeks of in-class training and workshops resulting in a greater sense of self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence. Following the four weeks clients find and are placed into a job placement for 18 weeks. The job placement is a paid opportunity for the participant to learn and grow with supports in place to ensure successful employment retention.
The Gateway coordinator will play an active role in skill development, healthy community integration and personal advocacy. Participants have access to a job developer to help navigate employment opportunities. Finally they will be followed throughout the 18 week job placement by a sustainability officer to navigate workplace concerns.
WHO is eligible?
- Youth between the ages of 18-30
- Noteligible for Employment Insurance
- Not receiving CPP benefits
HOW do I Get Involved?
If an individual is already associated with a case management agency, then they can speak directly to their case manager about a referral to Gateway.
If an individual is not already case managed, but wishes to participate, they can contact reachAbility anytime for contact numbers of case management agencies or questions regarding the referral process.
